The One that Started it All
Inspired by an Indonesian dessert his mom used to make, Chef Sam Butarbutar created the Mochi Muffin in 2014. It was born out of a desire to create something new that remains culturally relevant and told a story of nostalgia. The Mochi Muffin is slightly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and it has deep flavors of caramel, brown butter, and coconut.
Our Mochi Muffin exclusively uses California-grown mochiko rice flour from the prestigious Koda Farms, organic French-style butter, our own house-made blend of pandan and coconut milk. It’s finished off with a topping of black and white Japanese sesame seeds–a signature look of the Third Culture Mochi Muffin.

Our mochi donuts are not to be confused with others; it is a butter-mochi style donut that’s baked and not fried, mimicking the lightness of a fried dough yet keeping the rich dense chewiness of a butter mochi.
We are proud that our mochi donuts are made using mochiko rice flour from Koda Farms, organic French-style butter, and local dairy milk. Our glazes always either use fresh fruits or ingredients that we’ve carefully sourced. Our black sesame donut glaze, for example, starts with our own 72-hour process of stone-milling Japanese black sesame seeds into a smooth paste.
Our donuts are something we want everyone to feel good about–something familiar yet something different.

Premium Matcha
We are so very proud of our matcha, a stone-ground green tea powder. Our matcha is made from the first and second harvest of sencha green tea leaves grown in the coveted region of Uji in Kyoto, Japan. Our matcha has over 130 times more antioxidants than regular green tea or goji berries, and it can induce a sense of calm and stillness while offering a touch of caffeine.
Come try our matcha as a latte or in one of our sparkling matcha fruit infusions. We always hand-whisk our matcha to order for the best taste and experience—available in one of our Third Culture locations.
